Pretty sure the photo shown is an aircraft coming into land with its landing lights illuminated. The sight picture gets of the "triangle" is a function of the pitch and yaw angles of the aircraft relative to the stationary observer on the ground. The more nose high the aircraft, the longer the vertical legs of the triangle. Please see the above video to illustrate the explanation.
