Between here and there...
When the boards first came out, they were advertised as a great fun "toy".
Parker Brothers acquired the patent to it and commercially began promoting them in 1966, although the board's history goes back much farther than that. Many of us have "played" with the board in our youth, unaware of what it could do.

The question here is, how many of you have used a Ouija Board in the past?
Was your experience safe with no problems?
Or did you encounter some problems afterward?

Tell me your Ouija stories.
AND, I do not advise using them at all and warn against them, but we were all kids before we knew better!

I seem to remember using a Ouija board when I was around fifteen, with my siblings. I don't recall anything happening as a result; I grew bored with it fairly quickly, and I don't know what ever became of it. Another time I was visiting a sort of respite house, and joined a group of teens who had a board. We all asked questions of it, and I remember the responses were poorly spelled, as if someone had poor English skills. Again, I don't recall any bad effects from it.

My story is "How to meet your best friend over a Ouija Board".

Met my best friend at a Halloween party when we were about 13. We both touched the planchette of the Ouija board and the dang thing launched off the board towards a wall. I swear we did not move it. It just flew.

She's now a nun. And here I be warning you all don't play with them. Still best friends forever. We send each other a Halloween card every year to celebrate our friendship.

I used one once with a girlfriend. The board belonged to a friend of mine from school and i borrowed it for the weekend (with many warnings). At the time we were head deep into trying to research who owned the big abandoned house next town over. My friend who lent us the board also has been past the same house with us. It was strange how the amount of people we got to go with us snowballed. To be clear, this is the same house where many experiences i've had were in the surrounding area. So anyway, we start asking questions and the responses were immediate. Of course i thought gf was messing with me, but the look in her eyes was pretty real. Not getting the answers i wanted of course i began demanding the right ones. By that time the planchette went around in a circle and slid off the board. I called my friend and told her everything and while we were on the phone, she asked did i say goodbye? I did not. So flung the phone down and did so. The 'spirit' we were talking/arguing with claimed it was a little boy that died some years before. That night as i was falling asleep i had one of those herky jerky quick dreams, like stumbling or falling and waking up quickly. As i woke, i swore i heard a little boy giggling in my bedroom. I also noticed an odd shadow in my dormer. I couldn't place what could be making that shape, but shrugged it off and finally went to sleep. Not sure why, but i still have this board. Don't know if my friend didn't want it back or life took over and we both forgot over time...though we did work together at same store in the mall and seen each other everyday at school. Those days are hazy and to this day i still wonder of the origins of where 'my friend' came from. Though many dreams occurred in my childhood home, through the haze, i believe they began with dreams in the old abandoned house i mentioned. So, broken record time lol. This stuff is not a novelty. Inexperience and no protection is extremely dangerous. Somewhere i picked up a 'hitchhiker' that bothered me for years. Though it finally ceased, it could've been avoided. When the house was engulfed in flames, i was getting ready for work. I knew that second the house was gone. I stood in the kitchen of our blue house (also haunted) listening to the multi-alarm sirens and knowing in my core, that was where the fire was. As i was heading into work, i passed the multiple firetrucks putting the blaze out. Strange how ONE night entering that house years before tied me to it. Did 'my friend' have the chance to leave the confines once it was erased from existence? Perhaps.

That was a moment of fate for you both. It set you both off on a spiritual journey because there was evidence of a higher power. I had a similar experience as a young teen. I was with a group of friends having an affiliation with an adult that was sketchy in regard to his affiliations with the church. We used the board and the minute I touched it the planchette started moving on its own. I had poltergeist activity around me for a while and I swore off doing any communication with the other side. Others may do it and it is ok with me, but I do not believe I can do it safely. There is no way I want to trigger that kind of activity in my life again. So I am super careful where this stuff is concerned.
