The mysterious symbols found carved in Qatar's deserts

Al Jassasiya's 900 "petroglyphs" include unique images of sailing ships and unusual cup shapes that remain a puzzle to experts who say their true meaning may be lost in the mists of time.

It amazes me how these carvings have remained over such a long time span. Maybe the people living out there were just board and enjoyed drawing ! It seems archeologists always want to say everything was a religious ritual.
