The Kraken Might Have Existed

One thing that people don't have is an understanding of the scale of the ships back then. the Santa Maria that Columbus sail had a keel of 41 feet and a beam of 18 feet. the length counting the masts on the bow and across the beam was bigger but that was just for sails and didn't add much real space to the ship. this is the size of a tiny Mobil home. Anything big enough to reach up and get tangled in the rigging that hangs on the side of the ships would be big enough to scare the life out of a sailor. I think that the movies make people think that those ships were bigger. THEN can you imagine going to sea in a Viking boat?
they were long and wide but open and shallow draft. They were just ginormous rowboats with a single mast. that they could use if the wind was blowing in the right direction. Thier idea of a sea monster might not be as big as the pictures make you believe.
