That reminds me as a kid I'd have dreams about walking to my grans house which was just up the road.When I was almost there a pack of huge black dogs would appear around the corner past grans and I'd have to run home with them behind me.Sort of sounds like a modern version of Red Riding Hood lol, but it was a reoccurring dream that scared me to bits.Anyway gran would have beaten them senseless,one tough lady.

I wonder if it could have been a Dire wolf (Dire wolf - Wikipedia). It could have been scared indoors from the storm. It was way back in 1577, perhaps there were still a few around.
