HAVE YOU EVER HAD A BRUSH WITH DEATH?
A NEAR COLLISION? AN ILLNESS? AN ACCIDENT?
WHAT HAPPENED AND DID IT HAVE AN IMPACT ON YOUR LIFE GOING FORWARD?

OK, I'll start...lol I've had waaay too many, thanks. But the most curious one involved an accident that somehow didn't happen. Someone in a pick up truck coming from the opposite direction at a high rate of speed decided to take a turn directly in front of us. Physics would have said there was no way to avoid a collision. Somehow, it didn't happen. The next thing we knew we were two car lengths ahead of his turn. Hubs and I had both screamed thinking there was no avoiding this one. Hubs had to pull over and stop shaking before he could drive again. It was like the other driver drove through our space and we somehow got shoved out of that space by "something". To this day I have no explanation other than divine intervention.

I almost drown when I was 12-13 years old. We were in the pool at the condo complex where a good friend of my Dad lived, I was playing water volleyball. I didn't realize the pool had a stairstep type drop off (as opposed to pool floor slanting down gradually) and I fell off into the much deeper water after jumping backwards to hit the ball. I immediately became disoriented and was in serious trouble. Luckily somebody say me and hauled me to the surface. I got CPR, and was fine. To this day, I'm frightened of deep water.

I nearly drowned when I was about ten. We went to spend some time with a family friend and they had a six foot pool outback and it was Summer so naturally, most of us hit the pool to cool down. I got a little too bold and ventured out too far when I slipped into the deeper section of the pool and frantically starting waving my arms above the surface of the water and calling for my dad even though nobody could hear me. Just when I felt myself slipping away and losing consciousness he pulled me back up. I never ventured out that far again. Thirty years later that's something I'll never forget.

When I was in my early 20s I had an old car and one night on my way home from work my gas peddle stuck. (Today’s cars have different mechanisms). I tried kicking the peddle to unstick it and the throttle stuck wide open. I was speeding full throttle to a busy intersection with a red light with no way to stop. I froze but something spoke in my mind to put it in neutral and turn off the key. The back fire was terrifying but I was able to maintain control as the car came to a stop in the median just yards from the light. Almost immediately a police car pulled behind me and pushed me to the corner gas station. Help just as I needed it. I shudder to think how things could have turned out that night.

OK, we need to keep you and Duke away from pools.

I had a drowning close call at 12. Body surfing off a point I was saved by a board rider but on the third time down my short life flashed before me, going backward to when I was an infant. Strangely the event felt very peaceful.
