Sadly, those pigeons were the only ones later in life that didn't try to screw him over. Sad ending for such a poignant person of our past. They say he was out-of-his-mind, but brilliant thinkers/inventors are so far outside the box, ordinary people can't even comprehend.

That was a really long article, I made it about half way. I never knew about the bird fasination either. I was under the impression he died much younger.
