Elon Musk's Tesla Roadster spotted zooming through space | Daily Mail Online

An astrophotographer in California has managed to capture remarkable footage of the already-legendary Starman-helmed Tesla Roadster coasting through space.

A specialist at spotting deep space objects, Rogelio Bernal Andreo quickly set about finding the car that captivated the world earlier this month when it was sent into the cosmos by SpaceX.

After an initial error in calculations left his proverbial canvas blank, Andreo subsequently cracked the code the next night and was rewarded with an amazing view.

Video of the sighting shows the now-iconic car can be seen zipping among the fixed stars in the sky at a whopping distance of around 500,000 miles from the Earth.

I think it was a waste of a cool car. Why clutter up the sky.

If it makes you feel better, Lynne, it wasn't a complete car. It likely did not have an engine and drive train and batteries anything with significant weight. Elon called it HIS car. Perhaps, but a very stripped personal car.

I have to admit...it makes me smile to think of that thing wandering around up there. Besides, it should confuse the heck out of any aliens that wander by. :p
His plan according to the description of one of this car’s live feed, is to have it in mars’ orbit in about 6 months. But without thrusters and relying on a trajectory of a flying car that isn’t even flying in a streamlined fashion, I doubt it will stay in orbit anywhere. I got a feeling it’s gonna fly out of earths orbit at some point and wind up wherever it feels like

That may be why this whole spaceman adventure makes me smile....it's so darn random. No real rhyme or reason. No true agenda. Just something fun in the universe.

The “DON’T PANIC!” On the gps screen always cracks me up :D

What’s funnier is he started his space exploration shenanigans by trying to buy refurbished ICBMs from the Russian military. But they wanted 8 million a piece. They mocked him when he said that was too much money.

So now Elon Musk owns intercontinental ballistic missiles that are better than the Russians! And for just a few million apiece :D
