Swearing eases pain

but, it does work, at least for me everytime i hit my thumb with a hammer.
I heard a lot of that yesterday when the boys were working outside. They came in and did a joint apology..."Just in case you heard some of that, mom..." It was cold and they kept dropping things on themselves...OUCH was not one of the words I heard.

I think it definitely eases pain. I try not to swear in general not only to be polite but because it loses it's intensity when I need it.

I've known this intuitively for decades. Now I can wave the article in front of my wife, who thinks cussing after an unexpected, sudden pain a character flaw.

The behavior wouldn't have evolved if there wasn't a good reason for it.

Q.E.D.

thats how swearing was invented, a guy walking through a cactus field bare foot.....instant curse words.........shortly to be followed by the invention of shoes..............(probably because his wife told him to quit cussing and do something about it)
