The Soviet plan to reverse Siberia's rivers with 'peaceful nuclear explosions'
In the 1970s, the USSR used nuclear devices to try to send water from Siberia's rivers flowing south, instead of its natural route north.

Right and in this case they failed and made a radioactive area for thousands of years. They seem to think that just because they can, that they should.

I remember in the 1960s there was a story about talk around the Pentagon. Somebody's bright idea was to blow up the Moon to scare the heck out of the Soviets. They seem to think that just because they can, that they should.
...until one of the scientists explained to them we need the moon to maintain weather, rotation/tilt, tides, etc. I heard that before there was a moon ( if that was even a thing, though there are ancient writings stating it ), the sun was not as bright due to a constant veil of mist in the air and there were no seasons.I remember in the 1960s there was a story about talk around the Pentagon.
