All my life, as long as I can remember at least, I have suffered from sleep paralysis. Sometimes I will go months between incidents, other times it is daily. Sleeping alone almost guarantees an attack. I have numerous sleeping problems because of it, and quite honestly it makes being a functioning member of society more of a chore than it already is.

I have, however learned that I am quite adept at lucid dreaming and/or astral projection. Whether or not they are one in the same I have yet to figure out. I have read that sleep paralysis is simply the first step in projecting, and people's fears are unwarranted because it is simply just a new experience they aren't used to, and that is where the fear comes from. I'm not so sure.

Everyone here I assume has heard of the shadow people that accommodate an SP event, or the foreboding sense of malevolence just outside of your field of vision. As many times as I've had this happen to me, you would think, instead of being afraid each time it happened, I'd be on a first name basis with these "entities" and talking about how our days have went. That isn't the case though, it's almost as if they are sentient versions of Scarecrow's fear gas. No matter how many times it happens, the fear is still there.

Now you are probably asking, what does all this have to do with a comic book, other than the Scarecrow reference? The Green Lantern Corps are a police force of sorts, sworn to protect the galaxy. There are many, many, many members, not just one hero. Each member has a ring that can create "constructs", objects made of energy that function identically to its real life counterpart. The rings also allow flight and all that other cool superhero stuff.

The main thing to remember though, is these rings are powered by an individuals Willpower. The heroes have to will things into being. If they aren't feeling up to the task, the constructs will be weak, or won't manifest at all.

Enter the Sinestro Corps. These guys are considered the main antagonists of the GLC and are identical in every aspect, other than they are powered by fear instead of willpower. Not being afraid, but by instilling fear in others. A Green Lantern whom has fear in his heart, is unable to function properly, as the fear will inhibit his willpower. How often have we been too afraid to do something?

All of this ties into SP and AP in the way that the shadow people are very much like the Sinestro Corps. When you experience a bad sleep paralysis incident, you become fearful, it is like they are using it as a weapon. However, if you can fight through your fears, and have the WILLPOWER to do so, you can begin a lucid dream and/or astral projection.

Many people can attest that while doing so, you can create your own world, granted that you have the willpower to do so. If you are open, carefree, and fearless, you can do nearly anything your heart desires. However, if you have any tinge of doubt, or fear, it becomes exceedingly difficult.

Every time I manage to project, as soon as I can get my mind focused, I like to train myself. I don't know why, but I like to think of myself as a warrior, a GLC member if you will. What am I training for? I don't know, but I have did it so many times, that when I dream, I instantly know that I am adept at levitation, climbing with ease, jumping extreme distances, and telekinesis. I am occasionally good at flight, though sometimes I can't control myself. I have difficulty with super speed, and have yet to actually manifest anything, despite my best efforts.

Am I actually working toward something? Who knows. Am I simply just a guy who has really good memory in his dreams and none of them are actually connected in any way? Perhaps. I can't explain why this is, just that it is.

Thanks for reading my rant everyone, and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I happen to know that Bob just interviewed a Lucid Dream specialist. I reviewed that interview last night and I believe it will be released Tuesday night on DMRN and then released on youtube the next day. The interview addresses many of your questions.

http://www.lucidadvice.com/

Yes, there IS a difference between lucid/OBE/ and dimensional travel. Robert lays out several ways to identify the differences and also ways to work within the dreamstates.

I have had many experiences with this kind of thing over the years myself. I would suggest you keep a dream journal to help you identify the messages/themes within your dreams. I've found that writing down the experiences in this other realm often offers us much insight and knowledge.

Working within the dreamstate isn't much of an issue, at least I don't think it is. I know how to, I'd just like to get better. Who knows, maybe everyone can do what I do with ease, they just don't talk about it for fear of being called weird or whatever. I look forward to that interview though, sounds interesting.
I've kept a dream journal before, though I've slacked off these past years. Once I realize I am lucid or projecting or whatever the hell I'm doing, I remember things quite vividly, and I can recall past events just as easily as recalling the past in my waking life. If I practiced running in a previous dream, I will remember it, and know whether or not I should continue to practice, or work on something else.
I've also noticed several instances of continuity between various dreams, be it people, places, objects, or ideas. Whether they truly are connected, or just manifestations created by my memory is beyond my ability to answer, but they are there. Perhaps a dream journal would help me recognise even more of these.

Robert also talks about travelling in time while in dreamstate as well. Sounds like you might have had an experience or two of that as well. I have another friend here on the forum who is quite the adept at such things. Perhaps he will speak of it with you sometime.

my theory is that this reality, and others, operate on different "frequencies". Much like tuning into a different radio station, people can tune into different realities. A person who sees things or hears voices could very well be crazy, but perhaps they are picking up "transmissions" from other realities. Who's to say the brain isn't an antennae of sorts, and a messed up brain's "hallucinations" and a clairvoyant's "visions" aren't one in the same.

I believe you are correct in your theories. In fact, I've stated that exact theory in a past thread or two over the last year. It's also what my adept friend teaches.

I'd like to expand just a bit on something you bring up here, Malakai. You bring up the fact some people are labeled "crazy" when they have some of these experiences. As a former health professional, here's my take on that.

Some of the most profound spiritual lessons I've learned over the years are from people who have been labeled "mentally ill" by our current standards of diagnoses. Let me just say that I've found that the Creator speaks to us in many ways and through many sources. If, in fact, someone is diagnosed as "mentally ill", it does not negate a truth being a truth. Who's to say how the Divine reaches us? And through what doorway or means?

Looking back in time, you need only to look at the Bible to see how our current standards of judging someone's mental state has changed. By today's mental health standards, Ezekiel and his Wheel would be an immediate diagnoses of mental illness. John of Patmos, for Revelations, would also be considered quite "crazy." Many seers and those visionaries such as Joan of Arc or even Helen were once thought crazy or witches but are now considered saints. Even Jesus would be labeled as having Grandiose Delusions for believing himself to be the Son of God and hit with numerous prescriptions to alter his perceptions.

Perhaps we need to look more closely at those with differently "wired" brains/receptors. I would most certainly say that we must always be open to truths brought to us by unusual sources. The caveat that I would add to this is to always be wary of those who would use their knowledge with bad intentions....from any source!

Very well said, and I agree completely. To cavemen, magnets must have seemed like the work of spirits. As much as we do know, we still know nothing at all.

Malakai , you have your own frequency which is unique to yourself , to put it subtlety your own transmission and receiver operating on whatever frequency is designated for you alone , however , anomaly's exist in space which may cause interference and since your signal is within close proximity to another person you may pick up signals not meant for you per se ! We live in a multi- dimensional realm and frequencies are also multi - dimensional . This can affect dream state and time travel . Your soul journeys for a reason specific to yourself wether it be highlighting a recurring problem that you have to deal with or simply it's enlightening you to what is out there ! This is a very short answer to your questions , I am able at times to travel forward or backwards in time because there is something specific that I have to witness , I also get to fly through the realms and meet with others , PM me if you wish to take your thoughts further I may be able to help in some way .
