Sending Robot Swarms?

Fascinating! It's amazing that we have the technology to actually do stuff like this, even though it's very primitive at the moment. Looking at the nearly half century old Voyager probes and recognizing how far our technology has advanced makes me excited by what kind of space missions we might be capable of doing in another few decades. Sending robots into space to gather research data was pure science fiction not too long ago, but it may soon be actual science!

Speaking of science fiction, if anyone finds this story the least bit interesting then you should check out the movie Europa Report. It's about a manned mission to the moon Europa to tunnel into the ice and send research probes down into the water. The movie is kind of done in the found footage style as it's footage from the spaceships onboard cameras. The story is that halfway to Europa NASA lost contact with the crew, then two years later a signal is sent back containing footage of what happened, so the movie is all that mysterious missing footage. It's kind of dry at times but pretty good overall.
