The question remains...is this a good thing or a bad thing?
And what happens if we do make contact with an alien race that doesn't destroy/eat us, and they tell us they've never been here previously and they've never discovered any other life elsewhere? We will have had first contact, but are still in the dark about UFO sightings throughout our history.

As Duke quite rightly says, it depends on their intentions and how they view the human race.

IF (and that is a big if.........) we are descendants of, or genetically altered from, some ancient Alien species as has been theorised in the past under the 'missing link' debate, then hopefully they will want to meet and communicate, share technology and help us better ourselves. But I doubt it.......

The chances are, due to the very nature of our planet and all of the natural resources we have (and are squandering away and generally screwing our planet up....), I think it would be more to harvest those resources en mass. And for those who think that is just stuff of science-fiction, consider alleged Alien abductions.

If you want to be seen as a peaceful race, you don't go around abducting members of another race and conduct experiments on them, now do you?
