Woman, 73, stabbed by 100-pound sailfish that leapt from water off Florida coast

A woman fishing in Florida was stabbed and injured by the bill of a sailfish after it leapt out of the water and struck her, authorities said.

That fish really could have killed her. Those things are big. No report on how she's doing but may she heal up quickly.

Who could blame the fish for fighting to survive. I feel bad for the woman and hope she's ok.

There are many cases of people being injured by large fish jumping into boats. It's well known in ocean fishing circles and it happens in freshwater too -- especially with sturgeon.

Especially in shark fishing. This one probably swam towards the boat. I had a marlin fight me for awhile, but i didn't relent and wore him out. He was not jumping into the boat lol.

I used to like fishing but the idea of killing things has really bothered me as I’ve aged. I understand it is necessary to eat And I am not judging people unless they’re careless hunters, but something so beautiful as a sail fish should be free to sail.
