I was only two years old when ET was released, so I don’t remember the costume. I do, however, remember the toys from McDonald’s. They were the rave for all of us kids at the time.

A few years ago I was having a discussion with my wife and some of her co-workers and someone made the comment of "Remember when MTV used to play music videos?" After a quick round chuckles and knowing head nods I replied "I remember when MTV used to not exist." There were no chuckles but rather wide eyes and slack jaws. I was already well aware that I was the oldest person if that particular group, but I didn't really feel that way until that moment.
