Reality show to send a man to space

Didn't they already have a contest like this.........back in 1986
 
There are no doubt many who would love to win this however it seems to me that the emphasis is on making a hit tv show instead of a very dangerous undertaking. I think this could end badly and for everyone to see.

Send Rick and Chumly from Pawn Stars.
Chum would mess up something on the spaceship. Rick would have to yell at him.
That's must see TV.
Rick would try and sell Jimi Hendrix pictures to a Cosmunaut. Chumly misses Subway for lunch.Wants to go home.
Space alien tries to sell Rick a ray-gun. "$100, best I can do."
