I think on a basic level the reduction of senses would help a person focus better. I can see the value in it for very short periods when trying an experiment of the mind. Locking someone up in a sensory deprivation tank sounds like a horror show. Not something we want scientists doing. Some of the paranormal shows have used this technique and it appeared the got mental answers to the questions they couldn’t hear. Providing this wasn’t faked by producers, it appeared to work.
