Just before going into a hallucinogenic trance, Indigenous Californians who had gathered in a cave likely looked up toward the rocky ceiling, where a pinwheel and big-eyed moth were painted in red.

It's funny, I use to have a very large moth framed in glass. On the wings of the moth it looked like two large eyes. I may still have it in my attic. My attic has many interesting curios collected during my life.

The part that got me was that the participants chewed their plant to extract the drug and then made spit balls on the wall. They’re still there 400 years later!
