The pilots at the center of a multi-witness UFO sighting over Arizona which made headlines last week have revealed more information about their eerie encounter.
Thanks in large part to the release of riveting recordings featuring the pilots discussing the incident with air traffic controllers as it happened, the remarkable event from late February became a major story over the past few days after the mainstream media got wind of it.
And now new insights about the UFO sighting as well as the men who reported it have begun to emerge.
Specifically, the second witness to the unknown craft has been revealed to be a retired B-1 pilot named Blenus Green who currently flies for American Airlines.
In an interview with TV station KTAB, the amazed pilot recounted being told by the air traffic controllers to be on the lookout of the UFO and marveled that "sure enough, I was looking out the windscreen to see if it was there, and yeah, I did. I saw it."
As to what the object looked like, Green recounted that "it was very bright, but it wasn't so bright you couldn't look at it" and mused that "you almost really wanted to look at it, to try to figure out what it was. It didn't look anything like an airplane."
Despite seemingly being unable to decipher the nature of the object, the pilot who boasts two decades of flying experience did note one particularly interesting detail which stood out to him.
Green observed that the reflection coming from the object was "weird" in that it was "bright all the way around," rather than on just the side where the sun was shining, making it difficult to discern its shape.
Meanwhile, the initial pilot who spotted the craft has opted to remain anonymous, for fear of being inundated with media requests and other unwanted attention, although his employer did offer some details to the Phoenix New Times newspaper.
According to Bob Tracey of the company Phoenix Air Group, which is the contractor responsible for the Learjet that was flying at the time of the incident, the sighting was actually seen by both the pilot and co-pilot of the aircraft.
Both men, he said, were baffled by what they saw and described it as "like you woke up in the morning and stared at a bright light."
Based on the estimated altitude of the object, its perceived speed, and the direction that it was traveling, Tracey seemed skeptical that it was a balloon and indicated that he is as perplexed by the object as his pilots had been.
While the case may be destined to remain a mystery, the overwhelming amount of media interest as well as the relatively forthcoming nature of the witnesses is emblematic of how the perception of UFO events is changing to the general public.
Let's hope that any incidents that happen in the future can continue this trend and that the phenomenon may finally be taken seriously rather than simply scoffed at and dismissed.
