I want to share this with you as I've lived 25 years with a chronic condition that causes Chronic Pain. Over the years I've found many people often feel "guilty" or "weak" because they have daily pain. They often feel they should just "buck up" and "push through it". It's an invisible condition that makes many feel it must be hidden despite it being a very real disability. I want to share some facts about it this month. Let's start with the following:

▪️
September is Pain Awareness Month

▪️
Raising awareness helps break stigma, build understanding, and support the millions of people living with chronic pain every day.

1 in 5 adults in the U.S. lives with chronic pain. Chronic pain is defined as pain 12 weeks or longer
▪️

▪️
Chronic Pain can be caused by injuries or illnesses

▪️
There are varying types of Chronic Pain such as: sharp shooting pain, burning pain, zapping/electrical like pain, pin pricking pain, stabbing pain, aching pain, throbbing pain, tenderness pain, stiff/rigid muscle pain, nauseating pain, etc.

Treating pain does not mean you are weak. In many cases, the treatment of pain allows the patient to become functional in daily life.

Just putting this out there to support those of you who deal with it. Please don't share your treatments or scripts here for privacy reasons, but know that you are a warrior. Living with pain takes strength... and a really good sense of humor in today's world.

I'm quite aware of my shoulder pain. It has improved though, my head and face are very thankful for the sacrifice.
