How about any other parking lot "fail" stories?

I recently went for some lung function tests at the hospital. We were told to park in a small lot out back to make it easier for lung patients to get in and out of the building. (A very nice perk, I must say!) My son parked, I got out and went in for the tests. When I came out, there were 3 Silver Kia Souls, all the same year, parked in the lot! I just stood there frozen trying to figure out which was mine until my son popped out of ours and said, "Over here, mom!" All three cars were parked in the same little row and had the kid not jumped out and waved me down, I might have been there for quite awhile figuring it out!

When I had my Yellow Kia, there was one lady in town that had the same car. I did try to open that one once! lol

Yes, in the mid 80s in the parking lot of a mall in San Bernardino, CA. I had a nondescript compact car, a ubiquitous Chrysler K-car of some variety. No key fob, you had to physically insert and turn the key to enter the car.

So there I am, holding a couple shopping bags in one hand while trying to get the key to open the door with the other. That's when I heard a very deep voice ask WTF I was doing trying to get into his car.....and he was massive.

I slowly backed away from his car, frantically looking for my rental. I wanted to show him it was an honest mistake. Luckily, I spotted the rental and explained I got our two similar cars confused. He never said another word, just stood there and listened to my explanation, his gaze darting back and forth between me and the rental. As I pulled out, he was still standing at his car watching me.

Yes, when I was driving my first car, a beige Lincoln Town car. I had been shopping at the grocery store and was rushing to get to the next task. I tried inserting my key into the door of my car and wondered why it wasn't working. I noticed a carpenter's ruler lying on the back seat, and realized that it wasn't my car. An elderly couple had come to stand next to the car, eyeing me suspiciously. Then I noticed that they had parked right next to my car and that theirs was the same color, make and model. Except that theirs was in a bit better shape. I apologized and pointed to my car to explain my error. They nodded but still looked suspicious. I guess I couldn't blame them!

Not paying attention walking out of Wawa, i tried getting into another work truck...that was occupied lol. Those guys thought i was out of my mind. Could very well be but, be me for a week and you'll understand. ;bg2

Only parking lot fail i can think of was years ago. I had a huge lifted truck! It had 49inch tires and was just massive. I went to the mall around Xmas and purposely parked in the back of the lot since it was empty and the truck had the worst turning radius ever. Well by the time I'm out the parking lot is packed and I couldn't get my truck out. Hours went by and I ended up calling a friend and going to dinner. Finally the mall closed and the lot emptied and I went home. Nothing crazy.

havent done that.. most of my cars have always been too old or too ugly to mistake for someone elses....... occasionally i will drive my wifes van to walmart or kroger and forget im in her van when i come out and then spend the next few minutes looking everywhere for my truck before remembering im not in it

Silver Chrysler mini van, parked next to mine of the exact same make, model and year. Yep tried my key, didn't work, looked at rear view mirror and no Tree air freshener, that when I knew it was the wrong car. As I was getting into my car the owner of the other mini van was going to there car snickering :p

The whole family is out to eat at a steakhouse. It is winter time and my Dad flips my Brother the keys to go get the car and pull up front.

Crown Vic with a key fob.

Brother unlocks the car and gets in and notices stuff that doesn't belong to my Dad.
Looks up to the visor, and there are the credentials of a Federal judge. (Like a badge.)

Brother just goes to get Dad's car, and we all had a good laugh on the way home.

I have done that, once my teenage daughter was with me and she had to tell me "Mom! That is not our car, ours is over there." :) The worst was once when I went to Target (something I did once a week) and parked by the doors on the other side that I never parked by. Then coming out, I went out the doors I usually use and wandered around looking for my car. A security guard saw me with a perplexed look on my face and asked if he could help. I told him my car wasn't where I parked it. He suggested we look on the other side of the parking lot byt the other doors. I found my car and wondered if maybe I was not the only one he had encountered with that problem. :p
