I've read stories of bold, but really resourceful squatters who've managed to conceal themselves in occupied family homes for long periods. A relatively isolated structure that's not routinely occupied would seem to be low hanging fruit for folks looking for a squat. When you go back there, how far away could anyone in the house know you were coming?

Are you aware of the "hobo alphabet?" It's symbology used among hobos to let them know what's going on. Might look around to see it you can find anything like these symbol drawn or carved around the property.

Good thinking there D! I hadn't really considered the hobo chart but I am familiar with it. I don't recall seeing any signs of any sort. if so, I'd like to think my neurons would fire up and remember the chart. Lol I wish I'd thought about this before I left or while I was setting it all up.

I would start leaving wrapped food and a pen and paper and see if anyone responds. Maybe see Duke's chart.

Wouldn't make sense unless the person (if so) really does not want any contact. If they can see people coming, especially guys armed with weapons, they would hide in the best place possible. Before i saw your text and logged on, i thought about the place earlier and got a flash of a female with an unusual nose. At first i shrugged it off as stupid (lol) but it sort of makes sense as she appeared rather dirty and had a pocked/alcoholic type nose. If she is a homeless person squatting in the house, then she would certainly want to hide from armed men. If not a homeless person, then wicked witch of the valley?!

Love that! And I had brought a Witch prop with me that was to be unveiled later. I was gonna do the cabin shoot with her but the more I looked at her, I saw more things that needed to be fixed / changed so, the shoot never happened. And, she has a long gnarly nose!

I agree Oz. I never went into that house w/o my Beretta APX 9 strapped to my chest holster! Something that happened also, when I first went to put the Steve crawlspace recorder, Scott was off putting game cams and recorders out west of my position along the creek. I needed one of Scotts recorders to use so I grabbed one, put batteries in it and it failed.... So, I grabbed another one and it also failed.....I took that as a sign not to go up in there by myself at time....So I waited until the following day.

At one point during your playback, i thought i heard a wrapper crunching. The person may be taking them away or disposing them somewhere not easily seen.

Batteries failing certainly happen around certain locations. It happened to me in England when going to that castle. Hell, when i went into the abandoned house, i had a flashlight fall apart in my hands lol.

Damn! Wow. That’s messed up! I was actually at the cabin when I was trying to get his recorders going. He told me after that the batteries I was trying were dead.
Go figure.
I still think I read that right not to go at that time.

Hmmmm. I will have to listen again. The new ones that I haven’t sent yet Scott says he hears something “primate” in it. More than once.
