An organized man!Best move I ever did was taking the kitchen cabinets from every job that was throwing them away. I put them up in my garage and I have space dedicated for everything. Plus floor-to-ceiling shelving. Sturdy and deep.
The other thing is milk crates to house various hand tools. For example I have one for drywall mud tools, woodworking clamps and vises, wallpaper gear.......
Do you use baby food jars to store your screws and wingnuts Paint. My Maternal Grandfather had those lids nailed into a frame so he could hang the little jars below. Every thread count (is that a thing for bolts?) had it’s own jar.Best move I ever did was taking the kitchen cabinets from every job that was throwing them away. haha... i told my wife once i need nails.... she says "you just bought like 20 pounds of nails", i respond with " those were 16 penny nails, now i need 8 penny nails". and its the same with finishing tacks, 1/2 inch, 1 inch, 1 1/2 inch all the way up to 3 inches..... old habits are hard to break.WandS, I'm a contractor, I buy nails and screws by the bucket. It is sort of like golf balls - that you find it really cool to have that many around. The downside to that is I got a whole bunch of railroad spikes. And if I could get the funding I would build a railroad.
railroad spikes.... you need a forge, time for a new hobby paint...metalworking, have you seen some of the things you can make from RR spikes. The downside to that is I got a whole bunch of railroad spikes. And if I could get the funding I would build a railroad.
My 15 yr. old grandson has his own forge and is now a practicing black smith. He's been training for two years with a local guy. I have a railroad spike lamp in my living room. He goes to junk yards for scrap metal and especially loves to work from spikes. And you would not believe the fantastic knives he creates! Fun hobby.railroad spikes.... you need a forge, time for a new hobby paint...metalworking, have you seen some of the things you can make from RR spikes.
railroad spikes are carbon steel, best stuff for forging. i ran a metal and wood shop for quite a few years and had a lot of fun playing with stuff...lol........hmmm, had an idea of one day opening a co-op type shop for artists with different rooms for different mediums, paint, metal, wood, etc...but that is still a work in progress...lolMy 15 yr. old grandson has his own forge and is now a practicing black smith.
