I always have at least one useless ziplock bag sitting on the counter for no good reason. I think they sprout legs and crawl out of the pantry (remember the pantry!?)

Y'all's problem, it seems to me, is your plastic bags have bones in them, and can walk around on your counter tops.
Set up obstacles to trip them.
Or make wholesome, hearty, bone warming soup.

LOL The plastic bags I have are the grocery bags. I tend to stuff them all together, and by the time I notice how many there are, they have taken over half of my kitchen. Like rabbits, they multiply. Now, why I keep them I don't know. I rarely use them, but I'm always afraid to not have a "few".

And I have a kitchen "junk drawer". You know the one....when a mystery object shows up and you're not sure if you should keep it or wait to see what it is you throw it in there? It's like a time capsule of mystery objects from the past.

Boy am I ever the odd man out. I get it that stuff gets spread around, maybe growing legs. But order is my ballywick . It makes for free time to do things, a mental map where the star head deck screws are and it's dedicated drill driver lives. The blah blah blah...
I get it, but man , if you can't put your hands on something you need and own , real quick, you don't own it. It owns you.
Like I recently said , organization symbols would be on my coat of arms, but I have no proper place to put my coat of arms.

I have a kind of junk drawer in my kitchen too Debi; but, Paintman will like this twist. It is actually an organized junk drawer. I call it the “Drawer of Unique Needs”. It is the drawer that contains all of our silly cooking gadgets which serve only one purpose each. Some examples might help, for example, an avocado cuber, the necessary meat thermometer, some kind of funky pastry wheel for squishing pastry dough into those fluted pans, etc.

Here’s the best example. This drawer contains one of those not uncommon egg slicers - you know, the plastic thing that has a minor dip in it to cradle a hard boiled egg and it has a hinged set of parallel wires which closes down over and slices the egg. Some people might say, “I have one of those things too. But I always use it to slice strawberries instead of eggs.” Well you are probably using that tool correctly. Thing is, my Drawer has TWO of these same items - one for eggs and a second identical item just for strawberries. That is apparently in keeping with the spirit of, the “Drawer of Unique Needs.”

It is in fact a very well organized junk drawer.

I used to collect stamps and shot glasses.

I gave it up years ago. Stamps take too much time and after having a kid that wen’t out the window. We also stopped going places after Lindsey so I didn’t pick up any new glasses. Life changes after kids. It’s wonderful but different.
