My Ouija board story

Hi Charleh, thank you for sharing your story. Unfortunately there's still going to be people who read this and decide just because it happened to you doesn't mean it will happen to them and they will go *play* with them anyhow.

But I need to step in here and add a side note if you don't mind, or actually more of a warning also. You should never burn a Ouija board once it's been used. The reason being is that there's no guarantee that you were actually able to close the (gate / door) once it's been opened. So if you burn the board you may actually trap whatever you let in and it can't return through the board.

I've disposed of several of them & how I do is by binding them in white chord/ cloth etc, and saying a protection prayer, then burying them with salt and eggshell powder. It's safer and doesn't take the chance of destroying the portal where the entity can possibly return if it's actually willing to go back
Hey, I think you’ve proved yourself to be a pro in your field. Don’t ask permission to put your two cents in, it might prove useful. Possibly life saving

Thank you I appreciate that, but I'm by no means a pro. I just do what I do and I'm just me. I honestly don't believe there's anyone who can call themselves a Pro or an Expert when it comes to things Paranormal or Unknown because that's exactly what we're dealing with is the unknown & unexplained. We are all seekers & searchers looking for answers either for personal reasons or just to be able to rationalize things to where they somewhat make sense.

But I'm so glad I found this forum or it found me to where we can all share thoughts & opinions and have a chance to learn from each other without being judged or looked at as whatever society labels us :<3

this is my experience with a ouija board. This story is mostly a cautionary tale, but this is also why I started reading into spiritual warfare and demonology as young as 14, just to keep myself safe from everything that started happening.

So when I was 14, I was kinda interested in dabbling with the occult, because I had an idea what was out there, and from the age of 5-8 (I’m not entirely sure because many memories of my childhood are either fuzzy or absent) I’ve had encounters with angels and demons. I just wanted to understand what was out there. So with all that said, Dumb little me decided to build a ouija board.

From a young age if i could build something rather than buy it, I’d build it and make it better than store bought. So I built a ouija board myself. It was red with black lettering, in a circular looking font, clear coated so the planchette glided without issues. The planchette was made out of thick wood, a fake leather glued to the top just to keep it fancy, and the bottom had some felt feet. At the time I was very proud of how it turned out, despite me having jack squat for woodworking skills.

So I did some searching on the internet and followed the more common sense rules than what comes with the “toy” boards come with. I never used them alone, understood the risks of taking the spirits for their word, and always making sure that you’re the one in charge, and not letting the spirits change that power dynamic. And on with my first use.

First time was no big deal. Before I started, I lit a white tea light candle, said a short prayer, and declared out loud no evil spirits were welcome in the room. My sister and I used it.
And I asked a few questions and my sister and I were arguing who was really moving it. I insisted I wasn’t moving it. After a few more questions, the spirit left on its own.

This time my sister and I let my step dad try it out. So I asked who we were talking to, the board said K-I-R-K C-A-P-T....... then I just told my dad to cut it out. He has a strange sense of humour that beats mine any day :D

The third time my sister and I decided to see if we could contact a dead celebrity. I have no idea why but we chose Michael Jackson. So the spirit said it was in fact him, but after asking a few questions, the spirit started asking it’s own questions. The subject matter got sexual very quickly. Keep in mind I was 14 and my sister was 12. So I was like NO THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. GOODBYE! to my surprise the planchette moved to NO. So again, I said “you need to go and not come back. Goodbye” and it said no a second time. So the last time I said Goodbye one last time, moved my planchette to goodbye for 3 seconds, then took the planchette off the board and flipped it upside down. At that time I made it a point to store the board and planchette separately.

After that I noticed I was having serious mood swings for the next week or so. Actually I started having them roughly after I used the board for the first time. And no that wasn’t normal for me as a kid or teenager. And I decided to put two and two together and figured it was a straight up bad idea for me to use that board again, or even have it in the house. I told my step mom (a big skeptic and atheist) that I needed the fire pit to burn it, and that it was necessary for proper disposal. She said no because of the paint and clear coat I put on it, also that it “wasn’t a big deal how you get rid of it”. So I settled with my hatchet. So took it in the back yard, said a short prayer, and smashed that God damned thing to about 8 pieces, then threw it in the trash.

Unfortunately that didn’t change things. I noticed after moving twice since the incident, I started having more messed up dreams, seeing shadowy figures around, and at around the age of 17 I started having regular sleep paralysis episodes. It wasn’t until about the age of 19 or 20 that I started getting serious about what I’ve read up on spiritual warfare and put it to use.

This board is one of the biggest contributors to supernatural threats that I’ve faced, and the reason I had to read up for years how to keep myself safe. PLEASE, IF THIS TEACHES YOU ANYTHING, YOU NEED TO RESPECT THIS BOARD AND UNDERSTAND WHAT YOURE DOING, AND HOW TO DO SO SAFELY, AND EVEN THEN, BE COMPLETELY AWARE OF THE RISKS OF USING THIS BOARD. IT IS NOT A TOY, IT IS A TOOL. AND LIKE A HAMMER, FIREARM OR A LAWNMOWER, YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT IT CAN HURT YOU IF YOURE NOT CAREFUL.

I have never, fortunately, screwed with a board. But from my observations, I am left wondering if the potency and frequent success of these experiences might be based upon either or both...:

A. The sheer willingness of the participant(s)? It seems to me that in most cases, even if a person has some trepidation about the board, there is likely still a hope or a desire for spirit communication to happen.

B. The fact that these boards use language rather than symbols? By this I mean other mystical techniques like scrying, tarot, runes, etc. rely heavily upon imagery and symbols which are less universally known by the uninitiated public. However, English words have a seriously broad exposure and therefore make for a more accessible method for communication.

My thoughts on the reason Oujia boards are so dangerous is simply that they work. The intentions of one individual are powerful enough, such as with the use of other divination divices (tarot cards, pendulums, mediumship etc), but when you put multiple people’s intentions tog it’s very powerful in opening the door to the other side. The danger is in what or who is there answering. If it’s a negative being or entity your in for a possible lifetime of trouble. People most of the time do not realize they must close the door when finished (portal), this allows all kinds of stuff into our dimension.

Just my opinion.

Sorry for the confusion Lynn. I was not denying or questioning their dangerous nature. I was instead only trying to muse on why they seem to work so damn well. Seems you were able to shed some light on that piece of my puzzle too - which I think I'd summarize as "the more that play together, the less merrier those dangerous results can be" :(

Having never played with a Ouija board before, I doubt I would have thought to "close the door". As a Wiccan student I certainly know the importance of that control from doing circle work. But, like any other uninitiated lay person, I would probably careless leave open a portal to all kinds of stuff. Thanks for the repeated warnings on this point Lynn.

Keen observations of psychic phenomena show us, it is usually around our early teenage years, that an interest in the occult will begin to emerge.
This will be connected with the gradual awakening of sexual maturity. Choosing a mate often goes together with a reliance on our intuitive faculties. Communicating with infant children too, as language only comes later. relies more on these more subtle senses.
As we prepare for parenthood, so do our psychic senses take on a fresh sensitivity. It might follow, that a curiosity about the occult could also naturally manifest around this time.

The Ouija board is particularly attractive to groups of young teenagers.
How to keep such a group safe?
One simple often overlooked fact, if the group does not have a clearly accepted leader, it often descends into chaos.

From the metaphysical point, the ouija very, very rarely attracts the attention of spirits.
It's much more likely to find a common connection to the group psyche or the psyche of just one member.
Such phenomena bear a close resemblance to using a pendulum.

Asking questions of the Ouija board should only be done by one single user acting alone, not a group. Otherwise, it ends up fragmented by the collective psyche of the group. And if any of those present happen to be mentally unstable at the time, the instability can take on a vitality of its own, causing even more chaos. This would be a development of the heightened awareness of the group.

This, what I have written, is purely from the metaphysical point, so should not necessarily apply to everyone, I'm still discovering more avenues myself, xx

I agree. I actually started reading into the occult and spiritual warfare by the time I was 14. Big issue was that I had no elders to go to, nor friends, so I did so alone. I still think that using a ouija board alone, without someone at least in the next room, is a bad idea. Especially while you’re still young and impressionable, since use of the board has in some cases resulted in short lived possessions
