Hi Debi, good to meet you Marcus.
I'm going to sleep on this tonight for two reasons. This is a serious matter and I recognize that an initial gut instinct response can make things worse. So I am treading lightly and maybe tonight some guidance will come in my dreams.
Marcus, I know all too well what can go on in your mind between confession and the communion rail.;)
Sometimes it's a little inocuos, and I look up to heaven with a perplexed look on my face, and think, "God, why did you make such gorgeous creatures?":D Other times, yes I relate, Marcus.
This next bit is just speaking in generalities because your situation may relate to somebody that's going to read this someday. Now is the time for a healthy body and a healthy mind and a healthy prayer life. A negative entity or a demon will use any of the seven deadly sins against you.
    No drugs, booze, porn, ..........
C.S. Lewis wrote "The Srewtape Letters." It's about a middle-management demon advising his nephew, Wormwood, on how to steal a soul. Screwtape councils, "You don't have to push your patient (person) to murder, when cards will do."
Marcus, this next part is for you specifically. There is someone in your diocese that you need to find. Start putting out feelers with parishioners or clergy that can set up a meeting with a Priest that deals with these matters.
I listen to a lot of Relevant Radio and there is a frequent guest Priest who deals with demonic oppression. I'm going to contact him tomorrow and see what he advises. Don't know the man. Never met him. I will relate the accounts of the events that happened to you and I believe he may be interested.(I'm not shy.)
My little voice is screaming, go to daily Mass tomorrow. That can also be projection on my part.

Hey Marcus, sorry I didn't see this post until now. I agree, an angel most certainly saved your ass that night. Glad you're still here fighting the good fight. I guess you've been doing your own research but I'll share this one piece with you. The Goetia (lesser key of Solomon that you mentioned) only mentions 72 demons that king Solomon allegedly enslaved. That doesn't begin to scratch the surface of how many demons people know how to contact, let alone how many that make it a day job to mess with the world.

Given your extensive reading on the topic I have to ask. Have you ever dabbled in the occult, whether that be sorcery (goetia, enochian magick, thelema, rootwork, santeria just to name a few) or have a history of using divination tools like tarot, pendulums or ouija boards?

Hi Marcus and welcome to the forum. You have already gotten good advice. I too am a Christian. So from that perspective I will say an angel or God saved you. I think all believers have some level of protection unless we give permission in some way to allow negative entries to interfere with us. It can be unintentional. My question to you is what are you looking for now? It seems you have an understanding of what happened and that now your intuition has been strengthened, probably to help protect you since you may have been tagged.
Sometimes just sharing and getting validation is what someone is looking for. Keep us posted on your progress. In the meantime as a sister in the faith I would say continue in prayer daily. When you have negative thoughts cast them down and recognize they may not be yours. Having your home blessed and wearing a blessed medal or cross might help too.

Lynne nails down lots of good stuff. (As usual).
A lot of people ask me about the seven deadly sins of which I am pretty much well-acquainted with.:(
But my psychology studies have taught me that if you want to undo a sin you need to replace that void with a virtue. So here is a fun read about the Four Cardinal Virtues in the backdrop of Breaking Bad:).
First Things is a site for articles about religion and culture. It's heavy Catholic but there are Anglican and Lutheran heavy thinkers there. No, I don't keep up.:(The columnists got the smarts.
The link thingy did not work.
First Things - 4 Cardinal Virtues- Walking Dead on a search engine will get you there.

My bad. My cultural relevance IQ maxed out when Potsy Weber was a big deal.
