While I feel sympathy for the victims of those unfortunate events, and the awful things that befell the cast and crew of those movies, I wonder if any of it would have happened if they weren't involved with the movies? Things like break ups, illnesses, and murders happen to people who weren't involved in any kind of movie making. Just saying.

Good point Garnet. It’s like dark energy being attracted to negative behavior. I really think that there are so many people involved in making a movie that stuff is bound to happen. There are so many moving parts to it all. It’s probably just probability.

That's a good summary, Lynne! It must all be part of a greater mechanism that we can't readily identify.

Regarding what the article said about Poltergeist, Steven Spielberg wasn't the director. He co-produced it. But anyway, if Poltergeist was the "most cursed movie franchise in the history of cinema",then it sure didn't affect Steven Spielberg. He's doing just fine with movies.

I can get 3, 4, and 5 but I can't wrap my head around The Wizard of Oz or Superman franchise. The makeup components for Oz likely weren't tested for any ill effects possibly because they felt at the time no harm would come from it. But when Hamilton caught fire and was hospitalized, Judy Garland as I understand came to visit her fairly often. And just a fun fact, Hamilton was a former school teacher and she loved children.

I'm not sure about the Superman curse, but Poltergeist took it WAY too far. Real skeletons were used during the pool scene.

Having worked in Hollywood for years I find this article amusing. Accidents are not uncommon and are not limited to horror/fantasy movies. They also have little to do with curses but rumors of curses do sell tickets so Hollywood encourages them, I suppose. Filmmaking can be dangerous work for both cast and crew, not to mention health issues arising from the exhausting work schedules and conditions.

People are injured all the time but you will never hear about most of this. No one heard about Margaret Hamilton until many years later, after she retired. She said she could have sued over the incident but she knew that suing MGM would mean never working again and she was correct about that.

I've seen serious on-set injuries and been bloodied myself a few times. I've seen stuntmen badly hurt, lighting equipment fall on cast members, set carpenters fall through floors, extras hit with flying debris, actors hurt in fight scenes, etc, etc. It just goes with the territory.

Hard to believe the article didn't include the "Twilight Zone" movie.

After I'm gone they can use my skeleton if they want it. But, they better watch out for my curse. :)
