Generally with a Spiritual 2x4 to the back of the head. Hey. I'm a Child of The 60's. I'm lucky to feel that. 
Just nudges, then I don't always know until after the event has happened. Sometimes I wish for a 2x4 notice, but then again . . . I'm happy with what I do get.
I also get tired of going around the mountain over and over. I want to get the lesson the first time now.I think now it’s spiritual intuition and I seriously try to listen. I will err on the safe side as I’m tired of the 2X4

Sometimes for me, it's the lyrics to a song that randomly pops into my head, or I wake up with a song in my head.
Other times it's a knowing. Or a reminder. Like I'll suddenly think of a shopping item only to ignore it (laziness) and regret it later when it becomes apparent how necessary that item was the following day.
