A kind teenager says McDonald’s staff told her they 'do not serve homeless people' as she was trying to buy a meal for an elderly man.

Charlotte Farrow, 19, visited McDonald’s on Oxford Road for breakfast and decided to buy breakfast for an elderly homeless man after spotting him nearby.

But she claims staff at the fast food chain told her they could not serve homeless people as part of a ‘new policy’.

McDonald’s has since apologised for the confusion and said there is no policy not to serve homeless people and this will be reiterated to all staff.

While there might have been no official policy, I certainly believe that someone in management at this particular location sent down the edict that homeless people were to be denied service.

It's so sad that our nation ignores and tries to deny the homeless. Services to this particular group of people is almost nil to begin with, and now we have businesses like this sending out the message "don't serve or feed them." I've read of cities actually banning the handing out of free food by churches to the homeless, for the stupid reason of it not meeting "nutritional guidelines." Really? No caloric intake is better than some food in the belly?

Kudos to the 19 year old who TRIED to do the right, humane, loving deed of feeding this man.
