While doing a pre-dawn walk of the property to round up cows, a worker on a farm in New Zealand was astounded to discover that an enormous sinkhole had burst open during the night.

The jaw-dropping chasm, which measures two football fields in length and an incredible six stories deep, is believed to have been birthed after several days of heavy rainfall.

A volcanologist who visited the site, likened to a 'mini Grand Canyon' by some, noted that one could see rock deposits from 60,000 years ago at the bottom of the pit.

Since its a safe bet the sinkhole is here to stay and likely only going to get bigger, the farm plans to put a fence around it, lest their livestock wander too close to the edge.
