They found this a few years ago in China.

According to local legend, during the Tang dynasty, Master Hai Nang and his disciple Haitong decided to erect two large Buddha statues in the mountains, building them as large as possible so they would not be destroyed by any natural disasters.

There are numerous places in China and Taiwan that have carved images on mountain sides. Quite amazing.

I agree. It’s funny how the human nature is the same through time and culture. Reminds me of Mt Rushmore.
