In a bizarre story out of South Carolina, a man arrested for stabbing a woman multiple times in the back told police that he did so because he was afraid that she was going to feed him to zombies. According to a local media report, the strange incident occurred this past Saturday morning in the town of Monetta when authorities received a report of a person being stabbed with the perpetrator having run off towards the highway.

When cops eventually caught up with William Berry, the alleged attacker, he apparently admitted to the crime and offered a very weird reason for the violent event. Authorities say that he told them that he "poked" the victim because she was being mean to him and, specifically, said that she was going to feed him to zombies. While one might wonder if perhaps the odd case was the result of some kind of intoxication, police say that Berry was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when he was arrested.

He was subsequently charged with attempted murder along with possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The victim of the stabbing received around five or six wounds in the attack and was treated at a local hospital. It remains to be seen if Berry or his attorneys will attempt to use the proverbial zombie defense in his trial, but we're guessing that the excuse that he was terrified of being turned into food for the undead is unlikely to go over well with the jury.

I really wish there was more help for mental health in this country. This guy clearly needs to be on meds and under a doctors care.
