This is literally 3 miles from my house, and the first I hear of it is on DM!~! I could throw a stone and hit Lima Center!

Small world, Maphoo. Sometimes you have to travel around the world to re-discover your home. I wonder how long this farmer will have to give up his field to excavators before he can use his land.

Ok, everybody, in the photo, who is the farmer and who is the University of Michigan Museum Director ? It wasn't obvious to me until I linked to the article.
 
I think this is a great story !
but.....
I, personally, would have sought out some "goodwill" from the university..
i.e. FREE tuition for my Grandchildren and GreatGrandchildren....
I would have suggested that to the University...(although, Purdue would have been my first choice....)
