But honestly - why am I still thinking about someone I haven't seen in nearly 20 years? Is it just some form of wishful thinking maybe?

Well I know I do sometimes!
Seems like we all do. Not trying to threadjack here, but I've got another one but it isn't my own. At my grandmother's funeral, my late mother met a man that had known my grandmother for at least 60 years that admitted to my mom that he always loved my grandmother. Whether it's platonic, or romantic, I really don't think it matters but that's some STRONG stuff. I just put myself in his shoes because I understood how he felt. And back to my story, I just wish I'd said something.

Thanks! I was thinking summer, but after the announcement that all restrictions on schools (masks, tests etc) will be voluntary with no way to enforce them (again) and other safety measures are cancelled... I'm thinking half past never. I'm glad our most vulnerable are much safer now, but...
I'm thinking of acting like some old drama set in Russia and just talking at great distance to a woman in a mask:

Benvay (smoking through a hole in a mask): 'Ey. Vemeber the good times?
Svetlana or someone: Dah. I vemember. Oh, diztant stranger, vill ve ever zee zem again?
Benvay: Ze crow flies zouth at midnight.
Svetlana (dragging heavily on a cigarette in black and white): Iz not crow I worry about. Ven vill ve be togetzer? VEN??!??
Benvay: I must go. Ze plague children will be coming. (Swings dramatically around) Ve vill alvays hav Leningrad. I go to die.

Vin.

<End Cveditz zene>
Samuel L Jackson in a suit and hat: Svetlana!
Svetlana: You! Vat you vant?
SLJ: Ve're putting ze band back together!
Ben you are so dramatic. A good scene for sure. You should have some antibody protection due to having the virus right ?

I did sometime ago. She's married. Incredible how we never seem to forget people we loved or loved from afar. She was the one I wanted to be the one. I absolutely adored her even though I wore a mask to hide how I felt ALL of the time. And I don't think she ever really knew.
It wasn’t meant to be I guess. You will meet the right one yet.

You can look at it as a lesson you may have come here to learn. Speaking up and pressing into what you feel is right. I don’t know how far along you are in life but you are still here and can make the change the next time you experience a similar scenario.

Research shows that a nastyish infection gets you at least five months. Since I got better last on Halloween that gives me until the end of next month, which is typical. First time out, I got infected before lockdown, then got better just as lockdown started, then spent all of that stuck. We were finally okay to go out here when I got reinfected, then I recovered just in time to go into lockdown. I've been fine and bullet proof from two infections for the whole of winter (in lockdown) and now that my 'at least five months immunity' is running out, lockdown is being eased off starting with something which will spread covid everywhere again!
Look at this! I live at #2! Ten coronavirus hotspots after lockdown is lifted predicted by experts
They do think that being infected twice would massively improve things (though hardly any of us got tested first time out due to the lack of tests, so we're useless for medical study and it's all really vague), but... well I'm thinking of testing that.

It worries me how quickly people rush to behave as if everything is back to normal when it isn't, not quite yet. We may get still another wave. Walking in a local park yesterday saw a crowd of younger people, looked like college students, gathering there. Only one of them wore a mask.

One thing I have liked this last year is skulking around in the shadows in a mask and hoody, looking like Iron Fist and

not getting stopped by the police! If life gives you lemons, make them into a nice hat or something. I've never understood the hatred of wearing a mask. At least they were outside.
Sorry, none of this is about love at all! I should talk about romances past: stalkers, car crashes and other on-topic things!

, I just wish I'd said something.
I really liked a girl and finally got the courage to ask her out, I was sure she really liked me but I was knocked back, . Being a guy you think I'd be used to that but it was devastating. At least I found out and the feelings for her instantly vanished, lol. I'm glad I found out or I'd still be pining over a lost cause. I may be shallow, lol.
