I can't take much fiction anymore. It's all just variations on the same themes, over and over and over and over.
For decades I was a rabid sci-fi and fantasy fan. Now it all comes across as children's fairy tales, morality plays, parables, warnings issued with a shaking finger.
I don't need any lectures on humanity from the mouth of an elf, as envisioned by a fantasy author writing in their pajamas, on the same themes that have been done to death already. And I'm especially not going to pay them to do it. The bar is now set too high, it has to be awfully special to get through my triage criteria.
This show doesn't grab my attention enough, seems like Jumanji without the laughs. I'll wait for the reviews and see if my mind can be changed.
