I tend to find myself revisiting this one every so many years. The first time watching it, i came away with a different view compared to later watches. When they 'remade' the film later on, i was positive it would in no way come close to the original (which turned out 100% correct). Being deemed a Drama and Horror film, it probably turned people away from it. There are conspiracy hints in the movie as well, but for what the film truly represents, they are mere wood shavings on the 'ladder'. If you have never seen this film, give it a few shots as you may not get it first time around. Of course with the internet, this film has been examined to death all these years later, so spoilers. The original trailer did not do it any justice either as it was a total misdirect for audiences, so i will not post it here. After a handful of rewatches, all i know is when the time comes, who will be my Louie?

I will give it a go Selectric :)

I haven’t seen this movie. Sounds like it was one most have seen.
It's a pretty good movie. Has some unsettling scenes for the 'horror' aspect of the film. Hard to explain without watching it first. Everything in the movie is a progression towards the final scenes of the movie. The one character in it is the key to follow to understand what it's all about. For all that happens throughout, the ending is actually uplifting, hence the ladder.

I saw the movie when it was first released on video...blockbuster days...lol...didnt see the remake so dont remember all the details. but it did touch on something i have often wondered.. will finish the comment under a spoiler so not to ruin it for anyone who may have not seen it yet.
i have wondered if when we die, especially if its a life cut short. if the life flashing before us is how we would have finished this life, in other words, do we live this life no matter what. even if its in a flash or the blink of an eye, do we still live that remaining time out in that instant, and to us in that instant it still seems as though its a lifetime...

Selectric, I'll give it a look.
In psychology school we had a thing called 'parallel process.' You live your life, maybe a decade, and revisit a favorite book or movie, just to see how you are doing.
We are doing the same thing.

There was an old Jewish professor who took me aside one day. "What is your favorite book ?"
C. S. Lewis' The Screw tape Letters."
He nodded, and maybe because he knew I would take that to the bank, said " Go read that book again and again, and you'll know how your doing. "

So, here's were I sits. A Jewish man gave a hot life tip to a Catholic man to read a book written by an Anglican man.

I love America.
