This weekend, I celebrate my one-year anniversary of the "Great Move to Peoria". Those of you who have been around awhile know that move was a long time in the making, and finally took a final push to complete when my inner alarm bells rang and said "Do it NOW". I am so glad I listened to the voice within when it whispered that urgency to complete this move. Could not have done it without the help of my kids, especially Michael and his wife Tammy who went above and beyond to get us here.
The year has been filled with joy and sorrow, gain and loss. Took me 6 months to complete all the red tape required for banks, Medicare, insurance, selling a home, etc. etc. and to get settled into the new place in a new State. Just when I felt I had a handle on it all, my "coyote" hubs passed and we began a new kind of transition and adjustment with even more red tape. He had been very ill and I knew it was his time, and I'm glad we got here in time so he and the Peoria gang could have the 6 months together that they had.
Saturday, my kids and I will celebrate this one year of chaos and change with a loving nod to the past and open arms to the future. I love my new house, being so close to my family, my new crazy cat, the wildlife group outside my window, and all the ethnic foods from my childhood at my local grocery store! Heck, even watching and rooting for the White Sox is a happy thing! lol
To all of you who have traveled this year with me on this crazy train ride of life, I say thank you so much for your love and support. I can actually see and hear a train go by on the trestle on the hill not far from here...something that reminds me of growing up in Da Region nearby. Whenever I hear that train horn, I know I'm now "home".
