The more I read about the Battle of LA, the more convinced I am that it was just a bunch of nervous, trigger-happy reservists on rooftops.

Agreed, a case of war nerves. One of the most overhyped stories in ufology that got legs in the late 80s only after the bogus "Marshall Memo" was fabricated.

one of those "when in doubt, blow it out." mad minute moments, which was common in that era. training didnt change much from that until after the vietnam era.
