the participants in that field now, while excellent at their job, are missing the basics and attention to detail that was gained from the old apprenticeships.
Sad, but true. I once had a supervisor who scolded me for turning out some letters with typos on them, and she sternly said, "You own this work!" For some reason this hit home for me, which is why I am such a grammer/typo nazi today, lol. I don't want to have people say negative things about my work.

I was in the shopping centre the other day when a group of girls in their twenties were looking at me from a distance and giggling. When they got closer they said oh it's just an old f-rt. I still took it as a compliment. There's a saying over here, they looked good from the Harbour Bridge, lol.
