An old Celtic tradition for Samhain is a silent supper. Set an additional plate at the table to represent welcoming your ancestors to join you, and put a little of everything being served on the plate. Say a prayer of thanksgiving for the food and fellowship, and then eat in silence to honor the deceased loved ones. After the meal, take the food that's safe for animals from the "spirit plate" outside to share with the four-leggeds, winged, and crawling people.

Do you have any traditions or ways you remember those that have passed?

My mom used to send up a balloon to my dad with a message. I will sit quietly with a picture or object from an ancestor and send out love to them and a prayer for them.

I think sending love in memory is a wonderful tradition regardless of faith.
