Help! Taps/Lights/Gas oven turning themselves on. Advice please

My worry was the connection between the gas coming on and the lights - they couldn’t cause a bang couldn’t it? I’ve asked my housemate to get a gasman out to check but he seems reluctant and suggested getting a gas detector alarm instead.

It maybe time to have the stove checked to make sure it’s not a normal problem. I would suggest moving but I see you just moved in. This might be too active of a place for you. Keep us posted on how things go.
