This is a book written by a young woman who spent time with native American tribes, and asked questions about their ancient legends and beliefs.

It specifically looks at visits from a higher culture with advanced technology, that are considered Gods or aliens.

I've only seen this preview that talks about it but it looks promising -

She was a writer, and wrote fiction for magazines to pay her way, but there could be something in there that is genuinely from the old time, and passed down through stories told by the chiefs.

This is very interesting. Thanks !

Hi there, people. Was a little surprised to see people recall Hansen (1897 - 1976); she also wrote another volume The Ancient Atlantic, (1969), which might well be of some interest here as well. Hansen wrote items for the pulp magazines from 1929 to 1949 altogether, many of them in
the "Scientific Mysteries" essays column which generally appeared in Amazing Stories. A story went around many years ago that a brother of ehrs actually wrote the magazine items, bujt this brother seems to be non-existent. Her full name was Lucile Taylor Hansen (correct spelling of her first name, evidently). She is among the first women who appeared in the science fiction magazines btw.
