Want to visit somewhere haunted? OK, starting a thread for just those special places.
Here's the first one. If you know of one, do add on!

haunted-dest_ga_excalibur-nightclub.rend.tccom.616.462.jpeg

The building that now houses Chicago’s popular Excalibur Nightclub was first erected to accommodate the Chicago Historical Society after its original building was reduced to ashes in the Great Chicago Fire. When the city went up in flames in October 1871, hundreds of people sought shelter inside the historical society’s supposedly fireproof building … and many met a fiery fate. Patrons and employees of the nightclub have witnessed strange apparitions, and there have been multiple reports of people being pushed down stairs and over railings by an invisible force. In addition, one lonely candle, located high up on a wall, out of reach without a ladder, has a strange habit of lighting itself – much to the confusion of the nightclub’s employees. Party here if you dare – just make sure you watch your footing on those sinister steps.

Good thread. I'm hoping to learn of some personal experiences from members.

A little history about The Great Chicago Fire: The tale of Mrs. O'Leary's cow knocking over a lantern was probably more to do with the anti - Irish sentiments of the era. More likely, the weather had been unseasonably hot and dry. Like a mini drought. A city of predominantly wooden structures had already laid in massive amounts of firewood and heating oil (This was October.) And lightning struck. Wisconsin reported field and wild fires at the same time.
Here is the Old Water Tower that survived the epicenter. It's also said to be haunted. On Michigan Ave., in a ritzy part of town.Snow!:) Water Tower.jpg

Just heard a crazy story about how chicago’s infamous oriental theatre is haunted. And its supposedly because of an incident that happened on this very day, 107 years ago… So naturally, I have to share…. When it opened in 1903 as the iroquis theatre it claimed to be absolutely fireproof. five weeks after opening its doors‹ you guessed it– it became a fire deathtrap for 602 men, women and children.

2,000 chicagoans had packed the theatre on december 30, 1903 to watch the matinee performance of “mr. bluebird.” one hour into the show the red velvet drapes caught fire. the audience, thinking the theatre was fireproof, thought it was part of the show. most died running for the exits that lead to the alley, which is why it’s actually called death alley.

fast forward to the present, many staff members of the oriental theatre claim to hear cries in the shadows and refuse to go up to balcony where cold spots and shadow people are reported. do the ghosts of those theatre patrons haunt the oriental or is this just another chicago ghost story? Guess you can find out for yourself next time you see a show there? Or if can’t wait, theater tours are every saturday… Let me know what happens!
» Is the "Wicked" oriental theatre haunted after a chicago disaster?
Note : the exits were locked and had to be broken down in a stampede.
