Haunted Dams in USA

When Mrs Duke and I toured Hoover Dam, a guy in our group asked about the "worker entombed in the concrete" story. When the guide said it wasn't true, a woman in the group got argumentative, citing the song by the Highwaymen as proof it actually did happen. The funniest part was watching the reaction of a small group of Japanese tourists as their guide tried to keep up a running translation of the conversation.

I remember a trip as a kid, we were driving across Hoover Dam the same day as a massive tarantula population was on the move. They covered the road and you could hear them crunching under the car tires as we drove. I'm amazed nobody slid off the road, for all the spider goo.

I had forgotten the story of the entombed concrete workers, but never forgot the Giant Spider Crunch. That had to have been about 50 years ago.
