I don't know, people are not always kind to those that see odd things and try to tell people. Not everyone is willing to listen to the naysayers and take the criticism that would go with any report that gets a lot of attention and anything offered by an anonymous person has little ability to sway opinions. Now you have TV shows and it is "fashionable" to see, hunt and talk about this stuff.
I well remember when I had my close encounter with something impossible. The only person that I told was my wife. The internet changed the world for a lot of us. I was middle-aged before I found people that I could talk to about the sort of things we talk about here so openly. When I was young talking about seeing the future or feeling other people's emotions was insanity. There were places all over that were filled with people that were locked up for things like this and those that suffered from the effects of unshielded and misunderstood empathy.
