Guns, Ammo, and Gun Gear

Our distributors never have a Maxim 9 or id order 1 today!
It looks like they stopped making them last year. Need to check GunBroker or Armslist to see what's available. Might be a collectors item soon.

Supposedly they're gonna release them again. I'm spoiled by dealer cost. So I'll wait. The mark up on suppressors is ridiculous! On just a firearm your local dealer probably has it marked up by 20-30%. A suppressor like my 22lr silencerco sparrow cost me 200 bucks plus 200 for the tax stamp. They sell for 400-425 before tax stamp.

Talked to silencerco today. The maxim 9 will go back into production the guy didn't know when though.
I had to call because like a moron I didn't have the suppressor fully seated and the 1st round outta my ar-10 blew out the end cap and send the suppressor about 50ft....lol! After carful inspection inside and out it was only the 30cal end cap that was damaged! I put the other end cap on and ran a few mags and everything functioned fine. Called silencerco told them what I did and was told to send the end cap in and it would be replaced free! I told them it was my fault and would pay,but I got a nope it's free! They stand behind their lifetime warranty! Even told me if could send the suppressor in free to have them check it out or I can send it in whenever for inspection at their cost!
Now the wife and dogs aren't that happy...lol! It's still loud and the only way to fix it is supersonic ammo in 308 and it's pricey and right now hard to find. The AUG isn't much better, but I was using the larger end cap and again not using supersonic ammo. I'll probably buy the 223 end cap for the AUG even though my replacement 30cal end cap will work and just have 2-6 decibel difference.

Thats awsome customer service! They just jumped to the top of my list for when I'm in the market for a silencer, hopefully later this year.

I was told they had the best warranty. I've just never needed to use it though.
I didn't sit on hold forever, they were very nice, and are taking care of a issue I caused not them or their product. The fact i can just send my suppressor in just to get it inspected for free if I feel it needs it is awsome!
I've used their products for many many years and after this experience I'll continue! The other companies don't even exist to me anymore...lol

While waiting on the rest of my SLR rifleworks stuff for my AK I ordered some more stuff.
SLR pmag +5 extension...gonna try 1 before I order 5-6 more.
Geissele AK recoil spring
Geissele AK high energy main spring
Geissele/ALG AKT-EL with lighting bow trigger.
Other than the folding stock adapter or a stock that folds and is compatible with a 1913 rail and a SLR muzzle break the AK will be done soon!

Why? I honestly don't know...lol! It looks cool though!View attachment 67955
I had one of those, but I don't think mine was made in Romania. Had FTF problems, rounds jammed up at the point where the round part of drum met the feed into the AK. It also made the rifle hard to shoot without a bipod. The fully loaded drum weights close to the weight of an empty AK. It was even worse in the Draco.

I've had great luck with the Romanian drums. They've always worked. Every other one I tried just jammed. I keep hoping magpul does a 50 or 60rnd drum, but like the mp5 mags I wish they'd make...no luck!
I had 1 in a draco also! I got 1 years ago when they were 320-350 delivered to an ffl and came with a brace,75rnd drum and 1 30 or 40 round mag.
Its just for occasional backyard range fun,I can say I got one,and just looks cool...lol!

that sounds about right, mags of more than 30 rounds seem to jam more often.... thats why the military mags are 30 round max. from the m-14 to the 16....(tested for limitations).. also where the tall tale of loading 1 or 2 less rounds comes from. the saying that the springs will decompress and cause an ftf. whether true or not, it has its place of origin. also why belt fed is more often used (besides the fact you can reload and maintain a constant stream of fire with belt fed set-ups....... until the barrel melts anyways...lol)..... but regardless of truth or myth, drums are heavier and more prone to jamming than lower capacity mags or belt fed boxes of ammo.. of course with newer tech, design and metals used it may be different now

I never put more than 25 rds in a 30 rd AK mag. For those I keep ready in case the shite hits the fan, first and last two rounds are tracers, other rounds I alternate FMJ/JHP. Best AK mags I found were South Korean stainless mags, I got them for $10 ea at a gunshow years ago.
