Guns, Ammo, and Gun Gear

Cool thanks.

So apparently I don't have a pic of my rifle on my phone. I'll get 1 tomorrow. It's currently in the rack tonight next to me,but the wife hates it when I start messing with it. It's also bungee corded to the rack. I wanted to make sure it didn't fall off...again...lol!
I'll give you a description though.
Remington sps tactical heavy barrel.
Elftmann mechanical trigger...adjusts from 5lbs-2oz.
Magpul bedded stock free floated.
First focal plane Athena illuminated and etched retical scope from primary arms.
Atlas bipod and mono pod. Again I'd have to go look in the garage to tell you which model.
Leopold rings and 20moa rail. Forget witch ring models...I'll look tomorrow.
I also did the conversion so it stakes mags...magpul
T.A.B Gear...biathlon sling..basic model and the PRS sling from them. I'll eventually upgrade my biathlon sling though.
I use Nowlin, Sierra, and some other high-end match ammo.

If I did it over again I'd get a Bergara B-14 HMR in 308 or 300 win mag ot a Browning X-bolt. If you can find one a Dakota Arms Longbow is amazing!
The Bergara would probably be my choice though. There great rifles for the price. You can also change the bolt knobs on the Bergara which you can't on my 700. This come in handy when you mount the scope. You want the scope as close to the rile bore as possible and mine is very close. This makes manipulation of the bolt tricky. If I could change the knob I'd be set.
If you want to go crazy!
Accuracy International
Barrett
McMillan
The list is pretty big and then there are custom builders.
Don't even start looking at high end scopes like Nightforce or other...you'll have a heart attack!
You can also do some AR platform rifles AR-10 308 and 309 win mag,7mm Arc...ect.
They won't be as accurate as a bilt gun,but it's not a huge difference and follow up shots are quicker. It also will not supress as well if you run a can.

I did my build on the cheap end for the most part. You don't need the elftmann trigger or such expensive bipods or slings. Spend as much as you can on the rifle and optic! Make sure the rifle has as much as you want on it so you don't have to add alot and make sure the stock is adjustable.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna do an AR-10 build. The SCAR is so cool though!

I'm not and never have been a defensive marksman or great at long range shooting. Most of my AR's were capable 700-800yrdsmmo to do it and how often I ever had to shoot that far wasn't for me. Now CQB to mid range is my wheel house! 100yards or closer is my thing!
I could drop a 20inch barrel in my AUG and take it pretty far,but that would defeat the reason I got an AUG. It's very capable to atleast 500yrds now. It runs an eotech exps-2 and ×5 magnifier, flip up iron sights, and a light green laser combo with a 60 round magpul drum in it. I also keep 1 40 round mag and several 30rnd mags loaded for it.

Don't get me started on shotguns or sub guns like the mp-5...lol!
I'm probably gonna end up with another remington 870 police magnum and a Beretta 1301 mod 2 sooner rather than later.

FYI.
First focal plane or ffp...is what you want. Basically as you zoom in or out all your mil dots, lines, keep zeroed.
On a second focal plane it all changes so your zero is off.

K9, fun reading your stuff !
You mentioned trick shooting. I knew a guy who split a playing card. Had it framed.
My Uncle taught me the lighting a matchstick trick. It was with a .22 lr, Winchester pump rifle. 50'.
You don't even need to hit the match. Just get close enough for the air turbulence to light it.

Lots of fun targets on the market these days. I bought a little gong that's for my RWS air rifle. I saw another reactive target. It looks like a jack (the children's toy) made out of plastic and it hops when you hit it.
Another pellet gun game was a dueling game. Each person has a beer bottle, and you trade shots until it's down to a nub.

2 buddies of mine got the gongs and using mp-5's and alot of ammo...lol. played jingle bells and something else. It was cool!
Shooting for fun and having cool targets and tricks to do is 100% more fun than shooting to train or tactical training. Sure you learn cool stuff and techniques and can even fine tune everything to how you shoot not how the instructor shoots and all that. After awhile it just sucks! It gets boring and stressful and then you have the newbie who has never been in combat tell you your doing it wrong...lol! That just recently happened to a buddy of mine. He was SpecOps for 16? Years....lol!
Don't get me wrong I stay up on my training, but I'd rather spend my time splitting cards or doing 100-125 yard shots with handguns at an 8 or 6 inch plate...just fun stuff.
