So ive always wanted to learn to play guitar. My doctor said it would also help with some of the damage to my hands. Turns out the wife even thinks it's a good idea!
So what's a good acoustic guitar to learn on,but could also be my only guitar? Also what price range? I've seen Gibsons for 300 bucks so I have no clue what's reasonable.
Most of what I'd like to learn are bob marley songs to start with. Not sure if that helps?

Acoustic guitars can run anywhere from $200-$300 up to several thousand dollars, and that doesn't count the special one of a kind collectors items. That being said I'd suggest going to a music store and trying out a few guitars first to see how well they fit you, your hand size and how they sound. While there are some high quality/priced brands of guitar they aren't going to be as enjoyable to play if the neck is too wide for example. I spent years playing a cheap, second hand Takamine that sounded just fine to me.

My friends wife suggested a Yamaha? I only know their motorcycles....lol

you could try pawn shops, they always have acoustics for sale. ive found numerous fenders at them for a much better price. if you do decide to give it a try get a good set of nylon strings to begin with. at least for the first few weeks.... much easier on the fingers until they toughen up a little.

Yamaha makes a good guitar. You don't need to blow your whole budget on a Martin, Gibson or Fender. My nephew swears by Ibanez, he has 3 of them, but the one I tried didn't sound quite right. Maybe they're better at electric guitars than acoustic.

And like Paulm said, need good strings to toughen up those fingers. Nylon strings have a wonderfully rich sound, but they wear out and break faster. Back when I was playing guitar a lot I would buy 2-3 sets of strings at a time so I always had a replacement.

I love those hollow body electrics. The sound quality is on another level.
i love blues, and these are made for that distinctive sound of that genre. cant be found in a solid body or acoustic type. i have a fender and a gibson acoustic that i toy with occasionally, they have a very deep, rich sound but still cant compare with what this thing can do.

So basically my fingers and hands are rough. I lack a certain amount of feeling in them so the rougher the better.

May have found what I want!
A Guild A 20 Marley edition! Now to save some cash so the wife doesn't beat me with it...lol! I've spent alot lately so I can't blame her.
