Getting to know you....

OK. My turn. I'm Paintman because I'm a painting contractor near Chicago. I'm 50, and to celebrate my mid life crisis I'm joining a men's baseball league in the spring.
Art Bell brought me here, and stayed for the super people and knowledge base here. What else ? I live in a little town on a little lake in a house I've been remodeling. Remodeling is a good lesson in humility.
I'm not into much aside from baseball, golf, reading history, and the color yellow. I do The Catholic thing, and find answers and comfort there.
When on the forum, please note that my sense of humor alternates between silly and stupid, so keep that in mind.
As for the paranormal, one night I was part of an esteemed group who tipped a table. Any psychic happenings for the past 30 years center around keeping me from falling from high places.
And I did all of my course work toward my Psy.D. Not my cup 'o tea.
Wecome new people !

Thank you for the introduction Paintman.

Your humor has been pretty apparent in most of your postings that I’ve read so far. But don’t hold back - humor is important to our happiness. Without it, life could be just as dull as watching paint dry - ha

I’d be interested in hearing how the color yellow ranks as highly as reading or baseball in your listed interests.

I’m happy to share that I find painting very meditative until you reach the ceiling or the floor base moldings. Then the process of cutting in the details rakes on my nerves just like a Saw-movie-like life-or-death challenge. Last night my girlfriend reminded me we’ll be investing our coming holiday time off painting all the unfinished moldings and doors upstairs. There’s a pair of ten-pane glass doors up there with way too much molding! NOOOOOOOO!

That one was about 1.5m (roughly 5ft) and they are very venomous. One bite can kill quite quickly and they can also spit, usually aiming at the eyes with incredible accuracy.
Yeah, with that Cobra head, I was afraid they'd be able to spit - like they aren't already deadly enough, they have the power to spit too!

Thanks for asking Seahunter. At first I was part of Marines’ Facilities Engineering which really means ‘maintenance’. On a good day I was outside painting metal structures on hot tropical days. But most days I was scrubbing rust out of the inside of 10’ x 3’ iron boilers from the inside using a tiny wire brush. That was a dirty, dirty stanky job.

Later I scheduled recreation facilities - pools, bowling alleys, movie theaters, fishing boats, etc. - for the USO. Two best parts were daily 1-mile swims in the military pools followed by free ice cream shakes at the USO, and escorting the visiting talent to their show venues on the bases.
Yeah, the maintenance sounds a but grueling, but that USO job must have been rewarding!

LOL - I'm the same way on the painting! Give me the blank wall, I'm good, but cutting in those hard parts I am terrible at.
