A trove of documents, photographs and records pertaining to the FBI's search for a lost gold horde has been published.

I think this might be an old article, I remember reading about the treasure hunters being duped by the FBI when they reported the find. Supposedly the government agents removed the stash overnight and told the treasure hunters it was never there. If they did do this, we will never know.
